The annual PIACT awards luncheon Tuesday, March 18, offered the opportunity for exemplary agents and other esteemed colleagues to be recognized for their efforts throughout the year. Wilson presented the Company Professional of the Year award to Valerie Juengst, CPCU, Select Commercial Lines sales executive for Travelers Insurance. Wilson noted, “This individual was nominated by her peers as the company representative in Connecticut who demonstrates qualities of professionalism and who promotes a sound working relationship between insurance agents and companies. Valerie truly represents our industry with distinction as an expert networker and continues to build a reputation as a responsive, expert company representative.”

Woodmansee took the stage next and awarded CTYIP Director and Programs Committee Chair Francis “Bud” O’Neil, with the Young Insurance Professional of the Year award. “Bud’s actions have served to advance the causes of the Connecticut Young Insurance Professionals,” said Woodmansee. “He has earned the respect and trust of his peers and is highly dedicated to our missions of developing tomorrow’s insurance leaders.”

During Monday evening’s opening gala dinner, the PIACT Legislator of the Year award was presented to State Sen. Andrew McDonald, D-Stamford. This award is presented each year to a lawmaker in recognition for his or her service in the legislature on behalf of his or her constituents. “Sen. McDonald has been a leader for greater budget accountability among city departments and fiscal responsibility,” said Keating. “His accomplishments as a legislator and support of important issues to our industry have made him a friend to the association and to the insurance-buying public of Connecticut.”

In addition, at the PIA Annual Business Meeting, Timothy G. Russell, CPCU, PIACT treasurer, was named Committee Chair of the Year for his outstanding work on behalf of the association as Legislative Committee chairman. |
